Our Story
It all started when…
I first entered the gates of Be Love Farm on January 30th, 2019. My friend Chrissy Helmer had invited me to a workshop that she and Terces were hosting. It was about gratitude, and building communication and connections - all the things I love. As founders of City of Refuge Sacramento, it has been an honor and a lifetime of trailblazing, listening and learning, with a deep belief that inviting people to the table of abundance and giving them a space where they can simply “return” is the passion of our life and story. We were once invited, and so we have committed our lives to building tables of invitation for others.
This particular day on the farm, it was my turn. To be perfectly honest, I was in a weary season in my own personal journey. I accepted the invitation to learn, to listen, to soak in the wisdom of these two beautiful women. As I opened the farm gate I felt a breath in my lungs I had not felt in so long, and I felt deep rest. I found so much love captured in every nook and crevice, and in turn, I was found by love and truth in this space. Every time I would visit, this truth found me - the truth that “I am loved.”
As Mathew and Terces grew to know us, we became family. We loved who they loved, and we discovered we both spoke the same language: the language of invitation - an invitation to a table, one lavishly set for all of us, a table where there is room for every single heart. Out of this journey of relationship, Mathew and Terces invited us to become the new stewards of Be Love Farm, as their own dreams expand and take them onward to a dairy farm in Idaho.
As we continue to direct our non-profit, City of Refuge, the land of Be Love Farm has been highlighted to us as an avenue of creating opportunities for the souls we serve in the great city of Sacramento. This land personally marks for us an expansion of the original dream of returning dignity to individuals through offering a pathway for them to creatively experience avenues of service and revenue that will serve to expand lives and legacies. Be Love Farm will function as an entity all its own, rich in the same values of City of Refuge, and strategically positioned to empower individuals as a for-profit entity.
We invite you to the table. We invite you to Be Love Farm. Return with us to rest. Return to Eden, return to love, and experience the story of belovedness the heavens are always speaking over you, a story that simply reminds us we were loved all along. There is room for you here. We invite you with us into the awakening of dreams. We invite you to experience hope, healing, and belovedness in whatever season you find yourself in. There is room for you here on our land to learn new skills, to cultivate the soil of your heart, and to see new life brought to dormant dreams. We invite you to experience Be Love Farm, to walk our land, attend a retreat, stay with us a while, and as you encounter Love within our spaces, remember that you were loved all along.
